backpacker cozy singapore

A perfectly formed location…Luxuriously appointed special hostel…An authentic and different living experience… Established in 2013, Coziee Lodge is the brainchild of a group of business partners aspiring to build and provide an ideal hostel for every type of traveller visiting Singapore. Frequent travelers ourselves, we understand the importance of finding an affordable, comfortable and clean accommodation. Thus, our decision to create Coziee Lodge! Filed under Accommodations, Delhi, India tips & stays From the outside, Raj’s Cozy Inn Hotel doesn’t look very inviting. But in Paharganj, Delhi’s budget hotel and backpacker district, most hotel welcome mat come stained as a general standard. Surprisingly, Raj’s Cozy Inn Hotel is not in Lonely Planet’s Guide to India. I found this hotel because the two hotels that were in my guidebook, Hotel Namaskar and Smyle Inn, were fully booked. Hotel Namaskar, referred me to RCI,  just around the corner. The hotel itself is smaller with less rooms on each floor, but it was a newer hotel.
The lobby and rooms were clean and bright. My room was fairly spartan-  a double-sized mattress  w/ fan, TV and western style bathroom- but it cost me around $13USD/night (600 Rs). Not cheap for India (read here), but for Delhi, …not bad. The second night I was still curious about Hotel Namaskar. A Lonely Planet recommendation must mean I might score a better room. An extra bonus was that they’d also help you book cheap drivers and tours. But when I checked out their rooms, the hallways looked run-down, like they were storage space and the room I was shown in the back, looked like a dungeon with no window. Worse, their rates were higher!  So I returned to Cozy Inn, a grateful resident. I still booked a driver through Hotel Namaskar though. In typical Singapore fashion, even backpacker hostels are high-tech, with modern amenities and plenty of freebies thrown in – complimentary breakfast, WI-FI, internet terminals and lounges with flatscreen TVs and Nintendo Wiis. Traditionally, backpacker and affordable accommodation options are found clustered around the Little India and Chinatown areas. Both areas are good choices for budget travellers, with easy access by MRT (subway/underground), and cheap hawker centers and budget restaurants aplenty. The most high-tech of Singapore’s hostels is undoubtedly Wink Hostel in Chinatown. Its unique pod design of dorm rooms are designed to optimize privacy, and are fitted with neon back-lights which are activated using a smart swipe card as guests enter the dorm room.  The nearby Matchbox the Concept Hostel follows suit with their pod-concept dorms. Those travelling in couples or small groups and looking for more privacy should try the Hangout @ Mount Emily.  This trendy hostel has a selection of private rooms in doubles, triples, quads and quins in addition to its shared dorm rooms.
Other popular hostels worth checking out include the funky boutique hostel Five Stones, the eco-friendly Tree In and family-run River City Inn. For more of a party atmosphere, then the Prince of Wales pub and hostel is an old-time favorite with backpackers. Its hostel dorm rooms are set above a lively pub, which offers live music, pool tables, cheap beer and inexpensive Australian-style counter meals. The Rucksack Inn similarly encourages its guests to mingle and have fun. Photo courtesy of Rucksack Inn Chinatown, just a few minutes walk from the Chinatown MRT station.
